Full Description

Two earthwork ditches, possibly the remains of field boundaries of medieval or post-medieval date can be see on aerial photographs of 1945, to the east of Mendham village, Mendham parish, centred on circa TM 277826. the ditches are about 3 metres wide and are parallel, spaced about 32 metres apart, on a WNW-ESE alignment. They may mark the location of a former hedgerow. The function of these boundaries is unclear, but they may relate to boundaries that predate the road to the south. (S1)
