Full Description
A possible moat of probable medieval date is visible on aerial photographs as an earthwork opposite Walsham Hall, Mendham parish, centred on circa TM 279830. The visible earthworks consist two sections of ditch which connect to form the south-east corner and a possible north-east corner, now marked on the base map as a pond. No ditches are visible on the north-west or north east side but it may be defined by path. The area defined by the visible ditches forms a rectangle circa 30 metres in length and at least 22 metres wide. The moat may mark an earlier location of Walsham Hall. (S1, S2)
