Full Description

The route of two parallel drainage channels of probable post-medieval or modern date can be seen as cropmarks on aerial photographs, Mettingham parish. Although not themselves marked on either the First or Second Edition Ordnance Survey maps (S1, S2), the probable drains do appear to connect two drains that are; the southernmost is itself visible as a cropmark, the northernmost one remains in use. In addition, the cropmarks recorded here are noticeably sharper in definition than those it connects with in the south which may indicate a more recent date of construction.
