Full Description

A oval enclosure, possibly the remains of a mortuary enclosure of Neolithic date, can be seen as a low earthwork on aerial photographs, centred on circa TM 357891, roughly 150 metres to the south of Carlton House Farm, Mettingham parish. Little evidence for this period is noted in the immediate area of the site, other than a polished stone celt (?) described as being found in the area of Mettingham Castle in the 19th century (MTT Misc).
