Full Description

A possible field boundary of unknown but potentially medieval or post-medieval date is visible as a soilmark on aerial photographs, to the south of Lakenheath Airfield, Eriswell parish, centred on circa TL 730798. Almost 360 metres in length and about 4 metres wide, the soilmark may be caused by the accumulation of humic topsoil in the ditch created by the removal of an earlier hedgeline. The alignment of this linear feature is similar to that of surrounding extant field boundaries, and may be of similar date. (S1)
