The excavation of a trench for ducting at RAF Lakenheath uncovered the evidence of two pits. These were undated but are likely to be of Iron Age or Roman date.

Modified type 28A pillbox. The single large embrasure has been blocked and two smaller ones substituted. No interior blast wall. Entrance faces NW. [Recorder John Harding gives grid reference TL 90094909]

Type 27 pillbox, modified. Entrance uncovered, facing W. Brick internal shuttering. One-piece steel plates surround the 12 embrasures. Steel MG mount on round central pillar. Earth/grass on roof. Structure has unusual shape - see plan [MISSING].

In January 1977 an Anglo-Saxon carved stone was discovered by S E West built into the NE corner at the base of the tower of St Botolph's church at Iken.
