TM 46 SW LEISTON-CUM-SIZEWELL SAXMUNDHAM ROAD 4/40 Leiston House Farmhouse 13.3.51 II* Farmhouse. C17 timber frame core, completely encased in brick in C18 with features of that period; plaintile roof. 2-storeys. 3 window range, 3-light casements, flat arches. Assymetrical doorway with 6-panel door, architrave, fluted Roman Doric pilasters, frieze with triglyphs and cornice. The centre 3 spaces between the triglyphs have roundels, the central one incorporating a coat of arms. Modillion cornice; half-hipped roof. Fine ridge chimney with square base, moulded brick plinth and grouped hexagonal stacks. Interior con- tains a fully panelled Queen Anne period room and a good C17 oak staircase with turned balusters.
