Description

1. WICKHAMBROOK CLOPTON GREEN 2006 Clopton Hall TL 7654 28/500 19.12.61. II* 2. One of the 3 manor houses of Wickhambrook (called Clopton House on the map). A C16 timber-framed and plastered house (circa 1500) 2 storeys attics and cellars. There are 3 jettied gables on the south-west front and 2 on the north-west front. The windows are C20 metal casements. A gabled porch projects on the south-west front and a 2 storey porch projects on the north-west, also gabled. Roof tiled, with 3 fine red brick chimney stacks with octagonal shafts with star caps and moulded bases. The interior has exposed timber-framing and fine carved ceiling beams and moulded joists with carved chamfered stops. The roof has cambered tie beams. Listing NGR: TL7668554737
