Description

2004: Members of the Aldeburgh and District Local History Society (ADLHS) organised a survey and excavation of a site on a slight promontory on the norther bank of the River Alde. Suffolk County Council Archaeological Service and freelance specialists provided assistance. This first phase of excavation targeted the south corner of an enclosure identified by geophysical survey. Trench 1 was excavated over this enclosure. Trench 2 was excavated to pick up features external to the enclosure but proved to be mis-located in relation to the geophysical survey.
