Description
Archaeological evaluation prior to quarrying. Four trenches were opened over an area of c.12,800sq m. Machining revealed that ploughing had occurred to the depth of the natural subsoil. The topsoil was a dark brown sandy loam which was between 0.4-0.5m thick over the entire site.
