Description
Monitoring of area to the rear of Carrs Garage, topsoil was stripped to a depth of no more than 300mm. The area was fieldwalked, only a few patches of modern rubble were encountered.The contractors had removed the fill of a ditch which ran approximately parallel to the road frontage across the entire site, visible as a field boundary on early 19th century map. The site was not stripped to natural subsoils and no archaeological remains were disturbed (S1).
