Description

Monitoring of ground work at the moated, Grade II listed Brook Farmhouse, Beyton recorded well-preserved archaeological deposits surviving on the moat platform. A yard surface and postholes associated with the 16th century extension to the original medieval house overlay a medieval garden soil. A boundary ditch dividing the platform, probably separating the garden from the house site produced 12-14th century pottery. Off the moat the footings of a c19th century granary, a medieval field ditch and a yard surface and postholes dating to 17-18th century were recorded.
