Description
Archaeological monitoring was carried out on the rear extension to the existing house. The footing trenches measured 0.5m wide and 0.8m deep. The footprint of the extension was located within an area of former patio, the construction of which had lowered and levelled the ground surface significantly prior to this development. As a result this area had no topsoil or subsoil. To the south the garden level was clearly higher and the extension footprint cut through 0.8m of deposits. This was made up of 0.5m of topsoil over 0.3m subsoil. No finds were identified and the only feature was an early 20th century well.
