Description
Archaeological monitoring was undertaken during the redevelopment of the site of the old maltings, Elsey's Yard, Risbygate Street, Bury St Edmunds during 2006. The monitoring work was conducted inside and outside of a Grade II listed building (ID-467149) which formed part of the 18th and 19th century maltings complex. An area inside the building was machine stripped and hand cleaned. A series of trenches, mainly for footings, were excavated to the north and south of the old maltings building (S1).
