Description
Monitoring at 1 Church Street, Southwold was carried out during the redevelopment of the site. Footing trenches were excavated to between 1.1m to 1.6m deep with 0.45m of topsoil overlaying 0.35m to 0.4m of subsoil. No finds or features of archaeological interest were identified. No finds or features were identified although a significant depth of dark brown/black mixed deposit was observed which may be of potential archaeological interest as it may be evidence of early occupation.
