A systematic field walking survey was carried out prior to proposed trial trench evaluation. The field walking was based on a line walking system with the field divided in transects at 20m intervals. Within these transects, a 2m was studied, this allowing for a 10% sample of the area walked. The field walking recovered spare distributions of prehistoric, Roman and late medieval finds, and these finds are broadly contemporary with known archaeology in the area (S1).
