Description
DBA was carried out ahead of development for an area which measures c.0.54 ha on the eastern side of the River Lark; the western half of the site is located within the floodplain of the river. A site visit was made on 04/12/08 to assess the present land-use which comprised a disused nursery site and a lawn. There was one single storey standing building and the remains of several glasshouses with brick walls and associated heating pipes. The results of this DBA suggest that the PDA is in an area of high archaeological potential. The PDA adjoins and is part of the Abbey of St Edmund, a site of international significance. The site lies with the area of high archaeological importance, defined in the Replacement St Edmundsbury Borough Local Plan 2016 (Appendix B).
