Description
Archaeological monitoring was carried out on a rear extension with associated terracing and a cart lodge. For the extension 13m of 0.5m wide trenches were excavated. The trenches revealed 0.4-0.7m of sandy topsoil above 0.3-0.4m of subsoil. The cart lodge required the excavation of 33m of 0.7m trenches. These trenches varied in depth between 1m and 1.3m. The trench side revealed extensive tree root disturbance with the soil profile being made up of 0.3m of topsoil over 0.3m of subsoil. No finds and features of archaeological interest were identified.
