Description
Four visits were made to monitor the excavation of trench to replace the gas mains running through Great Churchyard. Four trenches were monitored. The trenches were approx 0.3m wide and 0.35-0.6m deep. The site had previously beenused for burials, which were moved in the 1950s. Several post-medieval contexts were recorded, but disarticulated human remains were also recovered. A medieval occupation soil, as well as a lime mortar and flint wall, were also recorded. Medieval and post-medieval rooftile fragments were collected (S1).
