Description

A small area was opened up for excavation prior to the installation of a new soak-away in the area of the water works, on RAF Lakenheath. Stripping of the site was initially carried out by machine, which removed 0.3m-0.4m of concrete slabs, associated aggregate and topsoil. Windblown sand layer was then excavated. Evidence of rabbit warren disturbance. This layer was excavated another 0.15-0.3m by hand to reveal uppermost levels of underlying features (S1).
