Description
Archaeological trial trench evaluation on land at Playters New Farm before the construction of a solar farm. The works comprised of 55 trial trenches following desk-based-assessment and geophysical survey. All of the trenches were excavated to a depth that exposed a full stratigraphic sequence. The majority had ploughsoil at the top, comprising dark grey brown, moderately compact silty clay with ocassional rounded flint stones 0.2m00.4m deep. Below this was natural superficial geology which comprised a light yellow blue compace, boulder clay, with large flints stone. Only 1 trench contained large geological layer, interpreted as sub-glacial scar deposit (S1).
