Description
Initial visit made during topsoil removal. This seemed to indicate that the northern part of the site had been made up with a dark brown silty loam topsoil containing 19th century ceramic building material. Much of the work was carried out by machine with large toothless bucket, moving wet pond silts. As a result, ground works were messy and difficult to monitor as it was not possible to strip many areas cleanly. No archaeological or palaeoenvriomental deposits were encountered.
