Description
Monitoring of the groundworks for a new garden room to fulfil a planning condition for permission. No archaeological features or finds were recorded. Topsoil was a friable, dark grey brown sandy silt (0.15-0.28m). Below this was the subsoil, a friable, pale grey brown sandy silt (0.24-0.38m). Below was another subsoil layer which was a compact, mid yellow brown sandy clay with occasional chalk flecks (0.32-0.73m thick). The natural deposits were present at 0.85-0.96m below the existing ground level and comprised a compact, pale yellow brown sandy clay with frequent chalk flecks (S1).
