Description

The area immediately to the rear of 88 Guildhall Street was excavated with further trenching monitored. This work was undertaken prior to the construction of an extension and other building work to the rear of 88 Guildhall Street. The site was stripped using a mechanical excavator with the work being monitored and the up cast soil being metal detected. The excavated area covered c.118sqm whilst monitoring trenches exposed an area of c.8.8sqm. When the site stripping was finished, soil profiles were cleaned and recorded in conjunction with the digging and recording of the cut features. All of the pits were excavated, being 20%-100% sampled (S1).
