Description
Archaeological monitoring was carried out on lengths of drainage pipe requiring open trench remedial works. The trenches were largely within existing pipe trenching and therefore already disturbed. The groundwork for the new tank to the north of Ickworth Lodge was continuously monitored during the removal of all of the topsoil and subsoil using a machine excavator. The area was stripped covered an area of some 90m squared and this was covered by 0.3m of topsoil and 0.45m of subsoil. Late Saxon to 18th century finds were recovered.
