Description
Watching Brief carried out on footing trenches for a small delevelopment of flats following the demolision of Salvation Army hall. The trenches were 1.5m deep and cut into natural clay at the bottom. The section showed c.30cm of modern rubish at the top which overlay a 1m deep deposit of even orange-brown silt; this contained very occasional brick and chalk fragments in the top. Some layers were visible within this deposit but they were all very similar. No features or finds of archaeological interest were identified.
