Description
Evaluation trenching for a planned new farm complex. 10 trenches were excavated and were between 0.3m-0.8m deep to the top of the locally occuring glaciofluvial deposit which was predominantly a soft yellow sand with iron staining in many of the trenches. Heavier pockets of stiff pale brown clay were revealed in trench 5 and 10, interspersed with the lighter yellow found across the remainder of the area. Above the natural glaciofluvial sand and sand with pockets of clay the topsoil was typically 0.3m deep above 0.1m-0.8m of mid brown sandy subsoil (S1).
