Description

Trial trench evaluation prior to the construction of a new garage and access. The house plot had previously been evaluated in 2009 and Monitoring in 2014 but no archaeological features were found. This evaluation recorded two small undated pits and modern pit and soakaway. 1 trench was excavated to a dept of 0.44m, topsoil was loose, dark reddish brown sandy silt with occassional small angular flint and stone. It overlay subsoil, a loose, reddish brown sandy silt with occasional small angular flint and stone. This lay directly over the natural deposits of compact, light orange yellow clayey silt frequen small and medium angular flint and stone (S1).
