A trial trench evaluation was carried out in advance of future gravel extraction at Lawn Farm. A total of 33 trenches were excavated on the site to sample 5% of the development area. The trenches each measured 40m long and 1.80m wide. Their depth varied between 0.30m and 0.70m, although the average depth was 0.40m. The depth varied considerably along the length of each trench due to ploughing and other relatively recent disturbance (S1).
