Description
An archaeological trial trench evaluation was carried out in advance of a proposed residential development of the site. The work is the fourth of five phases of evaluation trenching over the Hundred Acres site and was located within central sector and an extension to the southern sector. The evaluation consisted of over 150 trenches that measured 40m by 1.8m. This represented a 5% sample of the proposed development area. Several trenches were slightly shortened due to the presence of a modern water main and 10 of the trenches were not excavated. A roadway was also subject to archaeological monitoring during the groundworks. No finds or features of archaeological interest were identified (S1).
