Description

The trial-trench evaluation of the site (Wessex Archaeology 2016) recorded a topsoil of moderately compact dark brown sandy clay with some sparse coarse components, typically with a depth of 0.35-40m. The topsoil overlay a natural substrate of mid orangey brown sandy clay with stone inclusions and patches of light sandy clay. Site 18 comprised of a c.30m wide corridor approximately 310m long with an area of c.8540m.
