Description
30 trenches measuring 30m x 2.1m were excavated to up to 1.5m deep. Depths varied significantly across the site. Loose mid greyish brown silty sand topsoil was present in al trenches. Over most the site a subsoil/colluvium was present beneath the topsoil. A lower colluvium was also present along the southern edge of the site. The colluvium layer had generally sealed the archaeological deposits however a single Roman cremation vessel was recorded as well as other scattered pits and ditches.
