Description
Monitoring of groundworks did not record any archaeological features or finds. 400mm of dark brown loamy sand topsoil over a fine pale yellowish brown sand natural subsoil was recorded within trench A. The service trench to the south of this (B) had already been partially filled and no deposits below the topsoil layer were visible. Footings-(C) had been excavated to 900mm deep through a 300mm thick layer of mixed topsoil, rubble and sand, overlying 250mm mid brown loamy sand. This sealed a pale-mid brown fine sand subsoil layer to the full depth of the trench.
