Description
Monitoring of groundworks as a condition of planning consent. No significant archaeological features or finds were identified. The footing trenches were 900mm deep. A spread of dark humic topsoil (c.200mm), containing numerous fragments of late 19th and 20th century debris, lay directly over a natural subsoil of stiff grey clay. A feature was noted in the SW corner of the footings. lt was filled with a dark soil, similar to the topsoil, and yielded numerous fragments of 20th century debris. lt has been interpreted as relatively modern pit or ditch.
