Site Event/Activity record ESF25666 - Archaeological Monitoring at Residential Development, Star Lane, Ipswich

Archaeological monitoring for movement of large plant, and as ground beam trenches were extended across the site. Considerable amount of topsoil had already been removed from the site which had been replaced with a substantial layer of crushed concrete which constituted the piling mat. Open footings trenches and other excavations were observed, 1m of hardcore rubble and other recently deposited material lay across all areas of the site directly over an undisterbed geological layer of sand. No archaeology found (S1).
