Description
Evaluation test pitting ahead of the conversion of a 19th century outbuilding to residential use close to an area where human burila evidence was recorded in the 1970s. 4 test pits were dug, only two contained archaeological features or finds. The test pits were of a generally uniform depth of 1m-1.2m to the underlying natural orange sand with only 1.2m of subsoil in the outbuilding in TPs 1 & 2. And 0.5m of topsoil and 0.5m subsoil were revelaed in the garden area to the south (S1).
