Description

Excavation via strip, map and sample was conducted prior to the construction of a stamina track. The site is adjacent to an existing stamina track which was subject to archaeological evaluation and subsequent excavation in 2009 (MUN 035). The new stamina track is sub-circular and will measure 2000mx4m wide and 1200m deep. The site was commonly overlain by Topsoil, a mid orange/grey brown, firm, sandy silt with occasional flint and chalk 0.32-0.37m tick. It overlay subsoil which was a mid orange brown, firm sandy silt with occasional flint 0.08m-0.26m thick. The natural geology was present at 0.32m-0.61m below ground level and comprised a white chalk with moderate flint (S1).
