Description
Monitoring was carried out ahead of installation of new infrastructure including the excavation of a deep storm tank. Hand excavation in the noth/north-east corner of the site revealed a recent mixed topsoil horizon which was at least 1m deep; natural geology was not seen. Installation of the new storm tank, located in the central northern part of the site, involved deep excavation of an area measuring approx 5mx5m. No archaeological features were seen during machine stripping of the ground surface. The upper levels of what appeared to be natural geology were visibale at approx 0.35m beneath ground level, although this might have been colluvial material (S1).
