Description

This report is intended to supplement the Historical Survey of Drinkstone Post Mill prepared by the same author in March 2002, in conjunction with the dendrochronological analysis of Dr Martin Bridge (English Heritage Centre for Archaeology Report 60/2001). The 2002survey identified three 16th and 17th century phases of construction in the mill, but suggested that additional evidence remained hidden by the external cladding on the buck. This cladding was removed during remedial work in the summer of 2005 and the opportunity was accordingly taken to record and analyse the entire buck frame. The report is accompanied by eleven figures and is designed to be read in conjunction with that of 2002, of which a brief summary is offered below.
