Description
Archaeological monitoring was undertaken during groundworks for a rear extension. The foundation holes inspected covered c.4% of the total development area and were 2m x 2m and to a depth of 1m and 3m. No archaeology was present and the results show the site had been substantially levelled with the upper 1.5m being built up with modern brick rubble. A probable colluvial deposit was present similar to that on other sites in the area where it had accrued from the 14th century. This coul suggest that pre-14th century archaeological remains could be buried up to 2.5m below modern build up in the area.
