Full Description

Fragment of a terret ring, bronze inlaid with red enamel, found with a metal detector (S1).
The terret is closest in shape to those from Stanton, with cast `lipped' decoration (S2), however, the Long Melford example also has enamelled roundels with flanking engraved decoration - peltae infilled with dots. The enamelling and engraving has more in common with the Westhall-type terrets of the mid C1 AD.
Also Rom.
