Full Description
1989: In garden of Stour House an area of 144 square metres was excavated by SAU prior to redevelopment.
"Later on (in the IA) this site appears to have been on the edge of an enclosure as three, nearly parallel, ditches were found. Each ... was just over a metre deep. Two of these ditches are LIA in date and from the top of one came a copper alloy button & loop fastener (see IA). The third ditch appears to be early Rom in date" (S1).
Carbonised plant remains from Early Rom ditch (0056) analysed. Details in (S2).
Note Med property boundary runs parallel to ditches (S1).
Also BA, IA, Sax, Med & PMed. See S3 for further details.
