Full Description

February 1988: intensive fieldwalking survey located scatter of 11 hand-made sherds (both IA & ESax) and three sherds ?Ipswich ware.
February 1990: Further 6 hand-made sherds of IA/ESax date found during fieldwalking survey. Also iron axehead (drawn), ?C7 (S3). Found metal detecting at (see 'Not to be published on web' tab for finder/s and/or findspot/s), and 3 disc lead weights (?ESax, note lead weights from other ESax sites, e.g. HCH 013 & MRM 034).
Site just above small stream feeding into Shottisham Creek. Heavily plough damaged, much crag turned up, also bone fragments. To S is large area of dark soil - ?infilled pit (S1).
1993: Sceat or proto-penny of Frisian type, 705-710 AD, found metal detecting by (see 'Not to be published on web' tab for finder/s and/or findspot/s) (S2).
