Full Description
Hintlesham Hall. Erected in 1588 by John Timperley. Early Georgian facade masking Elizabethan core. Details in (S1) etc.
Fishponds leading to hydrolic ram and `The Basin' (?ornamental fishpond) to E of Hall and Park with `ice-house' marked on OS 1st edition map of 1838, close to `The Basin' (S2)(S3). Park also shown on Hodskinson's map of Suffolk, 1783. Possibly site of Med moat - 1595 map appears to show open ended rectangular moat, named `Hintlesham Halle' (S4).
