Full Description

Post mill with roundhouse, blown down circa 1914. Mapped by Greenwell 1824. The roundhouse remained derelict until 1975 when it was demolished for the timber in the post and trestle. The four piers and lower walling remain. There were four shuttered sails and a fantail (S1).
According to Flint, it was blown down in 1915 and first mapped in 1799. Dolman (S3) gives first mapping as 1845. The Military Survey if the Babergh Hundred records a miller living in Stanstead in 1522 (S4).
