Full Description
Two post mills with roundhouses at TM 2129 6884 and 2132 6882: 1. Old Mill, post mill with two storey roundhouse. It ceased work in 1908 and was soon demolished. The roundhouse remains as a store. There were four patent sails, two pairs of stones in the head and a fantail (S1). Named Old Mill, first mapped by Hodskinson in 1783 and dismantled in 1914 (S2). 2. New Mill, post mill with roundhouse, moved from Hasketon and re-erected in 1848. It worked until 1942 when the miller was `called up'. On his return it had deteriorated and was pulled down in 1952. The foundations can still be seen in the garden of a modern bungalow. There were four patent sails, two pairs of stones in the head and a fantail (S1)(S2).
TM 212689 New Mill, Worlingworth. This post mill with roundhouse
was moved from Hasketon (TM2550) in the mid 19th century. It was
pulled about 1950 after deteriorating from 1942. The foundation
can still be seen in the garden of a modern bungalow. The mill
originally had four patent sails and two pairs of stones in the
head and a fantail. (2)
This windmill was a postmill, according to Mr. Greenard, which
was demolished by his father in 1912. There are no remains or
mill-mound and its site is now covered by a shed in a private
garden. (3)
