Full Description
All Saints' church is situated in the N of parish, in the village. A church is recorded in the Domesday book. The Norman S doorway has one order of shafts. An early C13 W tower is unbuttressed with lancets and a small single- chamfered doorway towards the nave. The Nave is of circa 1300 (see one window with V- tracery). The chancel is tall and Decorated, the E window is reticulated. The S aisle is Perpendicular and attached to the E wall of the S porch. The battlements have initials, shields etc., in stone and flushwork. The S arcade has two bays, the S chapel one into the chancel. The Perpendicular E window has a niche to its right in the SE angle. There was also one in the NE angle. The bench ends have poppy-heads and three have animals on the arms (S1).
?This church partially overlays cursus FAS 004.
2007: A photographic survey was undertaken on the walls of the church that would have been obscured or visually impacted as a result of a small extension to the building (S3).
