Full Description

Circa March 1991: fieldwalking assessment by SAU located only 2 worked flints from double traverse of whole field SE edge, poor surface visibility (S1).

January 1992: Following topsoil strip over 9m wide corridor of water pipeline route, a feature with charcoal & burnt flints was identified and part excavated. The feature extended beyond the stripped corridor and was, therefore, only part dug. The area excavated was subrectangular, approximately 0.50m wide and 0.15m deep. It was filled exclusively with charcoal and burnt flint and the sand sides of the feature were burnt. Possibly extension of site, IKL 111 to SE, separated by band of trees where pipeline inserted in narrow trench without topsoil strip over wide corridor.

Descriptions of flint finds are broad, dating to a specific period bracket is ill-advised. However, they may be later Prehistoric, based on details of discovery, (S2).
