Full Description
Loudham Hall & Park. Hall described as `red brick' of the mid C18. The S front is eleven bays wide. Projecting pedimented three-bay centre. Details in (S1). Hall & Park shown on Bowen's map of 1755 (S2) as owned by `Wood Esq', and by `Sir Wm Chapman Bar't' on Hodskinsons 1783 map (S3). September 1609: `Church (PTR 008) a hayhouse, steeple, a dovehouse used by owners of Hall'. By C17 Loudham was very largely the estate of Sir Henry Wood and his heirs. Details & tithe map (copy) in (S4).
Park defined on HER map, very approximately, after (S3) includes avenue, PTR 008 & concentric ring ditch, PTR 020. Site of Med village unknown. Med Hall site probably built over/around by present Hall(?).
