Full Description

Pale `L' shaped cropmark S of church (S1).
Possibly hollow way or bank?
The remains of a possible field boundary bank or track is visible as a pale `L' shaped cropmark to the south of All Saints' Church, Mettingham, centred approximately on TM 362898. The cropmark is probably forming over the remains of a bank or compacted surface, such as a former hedge line or road or track. The full length of the visible 'L' shaped cropmark is circa 150 metres, but the cropmark is fairly diffuse and its true length could be greater. The date if the feature is unknown, but its alignment could be interpreted as running parallel to Rectory Lane to the west and towards All Saints' Church to the north, and therefore a tentative medieval origin is suggested here.
